Must be able to walk and stand for entire work shift.Scribe certification (certified ophthalmic assistant), preferred.At least 6 months experience in a medical office, preferably an ophthalmology office.High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.Understanding of medical terminology and/or ophthalmic terminology.Ability to educate patients regarding instillation of eye drops and other instructions related to physician’s treatment plan.Fluency in English, bilingual preferred.Ability to spell accurately while charting.Strong organization with attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication.Strong, professional interpersonal skills.Training and understanding of HIPAA requirements and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality.Understands Medicare and other common insurance requirements for quality reporting in order to help practice comply with payer requirements.Knows required components of examination for appropriate CPT coding to ensure all elements are accurately completed.Facilitates communication between the physician and other staff members as helpful to minimize clinic flow disruptions.Notifies physician of changes to the daily schedule, especially emergencies.Evaluates the condition of the examination room to ensure adequate supplies are in stock and patient can safely enter and exit the room. ![]()
